Prerequisites:
macOS:
The following two Rudix packages need to be installed:
- libusb – latest (older: 10.6 10.7 10.8 10.9 10.10 10.11 10.12), home page: libusb
- dfu-programmer – latest (older: 10.6 10.7 10.8 10.9 10.10 10.11 10.12), home page: dfu-programmer
Please install the builds that match your macOS version (the latest packages built for 10.12 also work on 10.13/10.14/10.15/11/12/13/14/15 and 26 systems).
Alternatively, MacPorts or Homebrew can be used to install libusb and dfu-programmer as well.
Windows:
Atmel FLIP 3.4.7 or newer needs to be installed.
Notes for Windows systems:
- Flip requires 32-bit version of Java to be installed
- system restart may be necessary after Flip installation
- DFU driver may need to be installed manually via Device Manager for the newly appearing DFU device when doing the firmware update for the first time (the driver files location is c:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Flip 3.4.7\usb\)
Update procedure:
Please make sure that only a single PunchLight USB device is connected when performing the firmware update.
Once the above requirements are met, please download the latest version of PunchLight utility.
Run the utility and open its ‘About’ window, then press the ‘F’ key on your keyboard.
A new ‘Flash’ button will appear near the bottom of the utility window.
After you click on the Flash button, the button will show the status of the firmware upgrade process. After the flash is done, the PunchLight device will reset itself and the PunchLight utility will restart to re-scan the attached devices automatically.
The firmware version reported by the PunchLight USB status should be changed to the latest firmware available for your unit.
